About The Frigate Unicorn
The Frigate Unicorn is a 19th century warship of 46 guns, launched at Chatham Dockyard in 1824 for the Royal Navy. She was built as part of a reserve fleet to replace ships which had been worn out by constant blockade duties during the Napoleonic Wars. Unicorn is the 6th oldest preserved ship in the world and is the most original of the ships of the period being approximately 90% original, and the only preserved wooden warship in Scotland.
